Our Story
Our shop began as an applique shirt shop in 2012, creating adorable birthday and holiday shirts for babies, toddlers and children. Our love of bright, fun, festive fabrics paired with adorable designs made this a dream job for a creative mind. The opportunities were endless for mixing and matching fabrics to get the perfect look! Then we started getting requests from parents to match or coordinate with their children's birthday invitations. This was a fun avenue to explore-challenging each other to find the PERFECT fabric that would match their party. Over time we noticed the trends changing and started researching how we could better serve our customers. Being in the birthday/holiday industry is a time-sensitive, delicate juggling act. We received lots of requests that came too late, and we had to turn away orders due to order volume/time constraints. We stumbled into a tradeshow on a trip to Texas, and the wheels started turning. What if we turned our popular designs into a sublimation or heat transfer design--no more running out of fabric, no more finding out your favorite fabric is no longer available, no more trying to find thread that matches the fabric perfectly--our search was over--and The Proper Pixel was born.
A little about me: I was born and raised in Northern California. I grew up in a small, rural dairy community. After graduating college I met and married my husband Tim. We have 2 children (now grown), and five adorable grandchildren. We relocated to the Baton Rouge area in 2005 and have never looked back. I love exploring the South, the food, the people, and the culture. Since my husband and I are empty-nesters now, we like to take day trips for a lunch date, explore the local farmers markets and attend the many festivals in our local area. Every day is a celebration in the South!
I am an animal rescue advocate, I love to cook and bake, and I love to entertain on the weekends. A homebody at heart, I love being home with my friends, relaxing, and enjoying life.
